Parkton Motorcyclist Killed in York Road Accident
Police responded to the scene at around 12:30 a.m.
A Parkton man was killed early Thursday morning when his motorcyle was struck by a truck at York and Bentley roads, Baltimore County police spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Fehrer said.
Police said the operator of the truck has been charged with driving under the influence but that both drivers were at fault in the accident.
Police responded to the accident at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday and declared Zakry John Foster, 26, dead at 12:39 a.m., Rogers-Fehrer said.
Police said Foster, of the 1100 block of Mount Carmel Road, was driving southbound on York Road in his 2009 Harley-Davidson Nightster XL 1200N motorcycle, and was struck as he attempted to make a U-turn at Bentley Road.
Charles William Wood, 26, was driving behind Foster in a 2000 Chevy 3500 truck, when Foster attempted the U-turn. The truck struck the motorcycle on the left side, Rogers-Fehrer said. She said Foster was ejected from his motorcycle by the impact onto the western shoulder of York Road.
After hitting Foster, who was wearing a helmet, police said Wood's truck sideswiped a pole, hit an embankment and flipped over.
Rogers-Fehrer said Wood, of the 1000-block of Wiseburg Road in Parkton, has been taken to York Regional Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. She said he has been charged with driving under the influence.
